「non-syntax 實驗影像展」關注影像於當代的實驗性為出發,連結跨國的創作實踐、重組既有媒材與類型分類,讓差異的影像彼此對話,共同思考影像的各種可能。「non-syntax」意味著發生於拼寫中的衝突,字詞的連結卻造成了意義的真空,以取消⾃身語法的方式在場。藉此概念,展覽嘗試創造如蒙太奇跳接(montage of jump cut)般、具備極高能動性的狀態。

今年度以「聚體」(assemblage)作為展覽命題,試圖展開⼀段從離散至收聚的過程。透過各地的作品集結、議題探討,以及跨類型、族群的混合,彼此映射出當代影像的多樣⽣態。我們期待逾越既有語法的創作,讓錄像藝術、電影、紀錄⽚、⾏為表演、動畫等型態區分溶解,重新給予影像具有潛能的模糊性。「聚體」的形成,同時也意味著不斷重組(reassemblage),藉由開放的放映形式與空間設置,希望能打破單向的觀看與駐⾜,在與作品、觀眾、展覽場域的互動間,共時的改變自身感性狀態。

“non-syntax Experimental Image Festival” begins by focusing on the experimental nature of image in the contemporary, linking practices across countries, reorganizing existing media and genre, and bringing different images into dialogue with each other to consider the possibilities of image. “non-syntax” indicates the conflict that occurred in writing. The connection of two vocabularies creates a vacuum of meaning that is present itself via erased its gramma. Through this concept, the exhibition aspires to create a highly dynamic state that is akin to a montage of jump cuts.
The exhibition of this year, entitled “assemblage”, aims to unfold a process from separation toward composition. Through the assemblage of works, the discussion of issues, and the mixing of genres and groups, the diversity of contemporary images are mapped out.

We hope to transgress the established boundary of creation, thereby dissolving the distinction between video art, film, documentary, performance, and animation, thus giving images a new potential for ambiguity. Through the alternative screening forms and space installation, the meaning of the “assemblage” also implies a continuous reassemblage, we expect to break the spectatorship which consist of stare and stopover, and to synchronize our own state of sensibility in the interaction with the works, the audience, and the exhibition space.
