A Trip to the Sea

I found this roll of film in an abandoned apartment. The date stamp at the edge of this film shows 1988, it was recorded one afternoon when he and she went to the beach. The short trip seems not over yet, they continue in these photos. I wandered in the ruins that I found in the film as if heading for the beach in the image. I began to soliloquize about photography, memory, and traces. In these things disappear, as if to see the most ephemeral figure of time. The film is about returning from the present to the past. By enlarging the film repeatedly and focusing on the still life in the ruins that I found in the film, I try to present the material existence of the image itself. When we look at these microscopic traces from objects/images, a sort of wandering state occurs. The sound of objects and the interludes of silent narration may create a vacant body so that the viewer becomes present in the back and forth between feeling and consciousness. Somewhere between movement and stillness, between silence and hearable, our perception of time can also be retested.
